Man, I used to drool over this guy...


Billy Mays, the first ever bearded TV pitchman, died in his sleep last night at the tender age of 50. It is unclear if US Airways is involved, but he did hit his head the day before, as things fell from the ceiling on a bumpy flight.

He Twittered: Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air.

Apparently he had a sense of humor too, so we'll end this post with this note: Police expect no fowl play (but they found a rooster in the cockpit).

If you want to show your grief, go out and buy some Oxy-clean.™


And grow your beard.

I always mute his commercials. He gives me a headache with his shouting.

But he was cute, so, I'd look at him as he silently pitched OxiClean.

He was a couple years younger than me. Too young to die.

He died in his sleep. At least he felt no pain.

That's the way to go....

Three years ago, I argued with a TV engineer online, when he said the new digital scheme would make the volume equal for everything.

Now that we got the new digital format, I'm noticing not only the commercials are louder than they used to be, but the programs have so much dynamic range they drive me batty.

I'd say the engineer has to eat crow, but we still haven't won.

I may market something.
